PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, REDEEMING THE GOSPEL: IS YOUR TALK CHEAP?
PASTOR JOHN COLLINS: Be the salt of the earth
“Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather
resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or cause to fall in our brother’s
way.” Romans 14:13 (NKJV).
Be a light to those around you~ Pastor John Collins |
Do you consider your actions and how they may impact those
who are around you and their walk with Christ? Think about that for a minute.
If you are a guy, do you trash talk women or talk about sleeping with this
woman or that with your friends, do you encourage lust with your friends or put
down this woman or that with insults and cheap talk? As a woman, do you speak
of this man or that and how he was in bed with your friends? Do you treat your
spouse in a degrading and insulting way in front of the children? Do you show
respect to your friends or do you gossip about them when they walk away? Are
you a good influence on those who know you or do you create stumbling blocks
for them in their journey to heaven? Do you even care?
When you consider your own behavior and whether or not it
impacts others in a Christian way or in a non-Christian way is when you begin
to think as a true Christian. You should care about whether others are going to
heaven, whether you are being a follower of Christ every minute of every day
and whether you are doing your part as that follower of Christ by being a light
unto others always, not just sometimes.
Are you dirty minded, do you have a dirty mouth and do your
actions follow suit? Are you an enabler for dirty behavior in others? Are you
selfish and nasty in your character and possibly fake in all you do and say?
Are you that stumbling block for others and do you even care if you are? Do you
know what the fruit of the Spirit is and do you bother to try and claim it as
your own?
In order for you to get into heaven, you not only have to
believe but you must act on that belief and the best disciple of Christ is a
disciple that truly cares about how they impact the world and others in it and
whether that impact glorifies God or not. Be the salt of the earth and be a
light to those around you and glorify your Father in heaven by not being a
stumbling block to any other.
“Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the
fulfillment of the law. And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to
awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first
believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us
cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.” Romans
13:10-12 (NKJV).
